Roots is a platform to develop your business, to advertise, to increase geographical reach and to increase sales without overloading yourself with work outside of your store and without needing large numbers of customers in store to do so. Roots is grown from a local community, we grew up in a village with often underappreciated local stores such as greengrocers, butchers, fishmongers, florists and farm shops. We at Roots have seen first hand how convenience has led to other large chain supermarkets taking precedent over independent, local, family run businesses despite supermarkets being a 5+ mile drive away and compromising on their locality and quality of fresh produce and fair prices for local suppliers and farmers due to the nature of wholesale business.




How would I benefit from Roots Delivery?


Roots wants to help your business expand and to move with the times, by offering a third party delivery service, running your orders through a website and app allowing your customers to shop anytime, anywhere, with real-time tracking of collections and deliveries. We take on the responsibility of providing an efficient and convenient delivery of your stock to your customers, allowing your customers to have their favourite local produce delivered to their door within a set radius of your store. Roots will be able to offer promotions and deals to your customers such as free delivery on certain spends or when they've made a certain amount of orders, keeping your customers rewarded for supporting local and coming back for more. Here at Roots we take all our policies and principles seriously and want to help you, help us.
We want to keep our stores, their teams, our drivers and all of our customers safe in the current circumstances. To do so we promote sharing of local guidelines and official health advice relating to the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.
We aim to keep our carbon footprint as small as we can wherever we can, this can be done by using recyclable materials, assessing most efficient routes to customers, avoiding peak travel times and not leaving our vehicles idling during deliveries.
We want to give back to your communities, we believe we can do this by helping with potential promotions, advertisements and fundraising for local projects, schools & charities through our website and app and in partnership with your store.
We also believe in showing the benefits of eating healthily, a balanced diet made up of fresh produce; meat and veg can increase health and fitness dramatically and by shopping locally you're avoiding harmful chemicals and procedures food is put through in long distance hauling of goods We want to do all of this whilst showing the people closest to you in your communities that they can have fresh locally sourced produce and that it can still be convenient.
We believe in supporting local by shopping local, allowing us to deliver local.




What do you need from me?


When you first register your interest with Roots a member of our team will be in touch to guide you through the sign up process.

We will want to see that you’re a legitimate business with a similar vision for supporting and shopping local by providing high quality goods.
Once we have established your interest and completed the sign up process, we will require an inventory of your stock in order to set up your store on our website and app. Where possible we will send a Roots representative into your store to talk to you about how our website and app works, how you can set up and edit your store with us, what you can personalise and how you can accept, amend, reject and generally keep an eye on your orders.
This way you will be able to make changes in future without us, however we will always be on hand to help and are also able to set up the store and make changes for you if required.




What does it cost?


Cost to my store?
We charge £20 per month for the use of our tablets to run your online store, this is set-up via direct debit on an end anytime contractual basis.

Should you decide to stop using our services, you can choose to return the tablet or pay a remaining balance to keep it.
Unlike our competitors in similar markets we take a much smaller percentage of commission based on the price of the overall sale of orders through our website and/or app, this would be deducted from the overall payment after delivery, marked as our service charge.

This payment is used to keep our back of house systems up and running and to provide you with customer service, drivers and vehicles to continue supplying our services to your store.
It's also used to help contribute towards our policies and principles by remaining environmentally friendly and enabling us to give back to local communities.
Cost to my customers?
We have two different delivery fees based on geographical distance from your store to your customers address.

If you live within 2 miles of your selected store - £3.00 Delivery Fee

If you live more than 2 miles from your selected store - £4.00 Delivery Fee




How does the actual payment work?


All payments would be made online through our website or app, the payment would be the total of the goods from the store plus the applicable delivery fee.

The payment is made to the store for the goods with a deduction of our service charge.

The payment of our delivery fee and service charge is made to us.
This can all be set-up online through our website and/or app and your money can be sent straight into your businesses nominal bank account.
